Kevin emigrated to Australia with his family at the age of 10.
After several challenging years transitioning from life amongst rice paddies in Taiwan’s countryside to metropolitan Melbourne, learning a new language as well as adjusting to a new way of life, he gained acceptance at the prestigious selective entry Melbourne High School, and went onto studying medicine at the University of Melbourne.
He obtained his MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery) qualification in 2003 and subsequently undertook surgical training at Austin Health (Melbourne), with various country rotations throughout Victoria, Tasmania and Alice Springs.
Kevin was admitted as a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2014.
Since then, he has worked as a Staff Specialist General Surgeon in Bundaberg Hospital.
Although initially, this was meant to be a 1 or 2 year plan, Kevin has found working in a regional hospital an extremely rewarding experience.
With his family now settled, he is hoping to continue to practice as a regional surgeon, delivering high quality and timely surgical care to his community for many years to come.
Kevin’s special interests include minimally invasive as well as high quality endoscopic procedures, and is currently a member of the Endoscopy Steering Commitee for the Wide Bay Health District.
